Dan Moore defeated “The Real Wrestler” Gavin McGavin via pinfall
Invitational Tournament First Semi Final
Gavin McGavin came into ReAwakening with his sights firmly set on winning the EPW Championship. We had to suffer through his non stop plans on how he was going to dispose of Dan Moore in the semi final before defeating either Kiel Steria or Julian Ward to win the EPW Invitational Trophy and then, using his new status as the Number 1 Contender, cash in against the winner of the EPW Championship match between Mad Mikey and The Don later in the night.
It was a great plan on paper (Twitter)…
Unfortunately (for McGavin…) while he was planning his three match night, Moore was taking it one bell ring at a time and it proved to be the much more successful strategy. After a back and forth encounter which included some incredibly stiff strikes by Moore after the usual underhanded tactics we’ve come to expect from McGavin, it was The Nice Guy who picked up the shock victory and proceed to the Invitational final later in the night.
Julian Ward w/ Amber defeated Kiel Steria via pinfall
Invitational Tournament Second Semi Final
The next semi final match up between two of EPWs finest in ring athletes promised to be a good one and it delivered. Kiels combination of size, strength, agility and skill is second to none in Explosive Pro Wrestling, which makes him an incredibly unique and challenging opponent. However, while Julian Ward would need to concede to Kiel in virtually every physical attribute he does have him beat on intelligence, confidence and guile. In the end, this would prove to be the difference.
Julian Ward absorbed Kiels best shots and then, thanks to a little help from Amber, was able to nail his finishing move cleanly and spectacularly for a big victory.
Our Invitational Final was now locked in to be Julian Ward vs Dan Moore, which would take place later in the night.
The Taskforce (Tipine & Jack Edwards) def Taylor King & Tyler Jacobs w/ The Children via pinfall
The battle for Taylor Kings Soul.
To get an idea of what this match meant to the Taskforce, you probably need to watch the video below.
The Taskforce entered Gate 1 in their new non copy-write infringing gear to one of the biggest ovations we have ever heard. Clearly enough was enough, and after almost a year of seeing their beloved Taylor King brainwashed at the hands of Tyler Jacobs and his followers, The Children, it was time to get their boy back!
Emotions were running high from bell to bell. Throughout the match Taylor King appeared to be confused as to where his loyalties lay and at times, even tried to protect Edwards from Father Jacobs wrath. When The Children tried getting involved King knocked them off the ring apron which lead to a huge victory for the Taskforce.
After the match, Jacobs berated King until King finally came to his senses and knocked him down, sending both Jacobs and The Children out of Claremont with their tails between their legs and the good book in tatters.
The Taylor King Taskforce then hugged it out in what can only be described as the most beautiful and heart warming moment in the history of planet earth, probably on par with Ryan Gossling and Rachel McAdams kissing in the rain. All who were in attendance lives will forever be altered for the better after seeing the triumph of friendship, mate-hood and love.
