KIEL STERIA WITH DAVID NERO DEFEATED LOGAN GREY

2019 kicked off in fine style as two of EPW’s most innovative wrestlers faced each other in singles competition.

Kiel Steria and David Nero became the No.1 Contenders for the EPW Tag Team Championships at Re-Awakening 2018. Steria had a chance to get a mental edge over the champs if he could beat Logan Grey.

The two former EPW Champions dazzled the crowd at Gate One as they fought valiantly. Grey’s tag team partner (Alex Kingston) was absent and Steria’s partner Dave Nero knew he could have a deciding influence on the match.

As Kiel Steria inadvertently distracted the referee, Nero took the opportunity to attack Grey on the outside. Kiel could then take control of a battered Grey, hitting a Kiel Driverand picking up the pinfall.

Steria and Nero will now receive their Tag Team Championship opportunity at EPW Goldrush on April 6. Will Grey and the Hooligans confidence be damaged by this setback? Is Steria happy with the manner in which he won?

DAN MOORE AND JONATHAN WIMBLEDON DEFEATED THE HEADHUNTERS (DAN STEEL AND TWITCH)

The bad blood between Dan Moore and the Headhunters continued to escalate at EPW Hot Summer’s Night. Moore teamed up with Jonathan Wimbledon tonight who Dan Steel and Twitch have also tormented and attacked.

In a chaotic affair, Moore was able to hit his TKO  on an unaware Twitch  to pick up the victory. This brought the undefeated streak  of Headhunters to an abrupt end.

Dan Steel was enraged with the sudden defeat and attacked the victors. Moore was able to turn the tables on his heated rival while EPW officials and staff struggled to separate the two men as wild strikes were being thrown.

After calm had been restored, Dean Olsen announced that Dan Steel and Dan Moore will have the chance to settle the score for good at EPW Goldrush in a Lumberjack match.

Will “The Nice Guy” finally be able to get his revenge on the man who cost him a year of his career through injury? Or will Steel be able to avenge the disruption to his quest for EPW Championship gold and send another vicious message to Moore and the rest of the EPW roster?

TYLER JACOBS WITH THE CHILDREN DEFEATED CRAVEN

Both Tyler Jacobs and the Australian Sensation Craven had entered last year’s EPW Invitational Tournament and ultimately fell short of making the final. A win here would go a long way in reestablishing their position within EPW.

Craven is a veteran of the Australian wrestling scene but only made his first appearance in EPW in 2018. Although hugely talented and charismatic, Craven has not been able to come away with that breakthrough victory against EPW’s elite. Tyler Jacobs is arguably EPW’s most decorated champion and has “found the light” as well as a legion of loyal followers in the form of the Children.

And it was the Children that formed an persistent role in this first-time match-up. Craven battled admirably as he constantly held the advantage over the Tyler Jacobs despite interjections from The Children. In the end, it was that constant interference from Junior Li, Chadwick Jackson and Stella Nyx that was the difference as Nyx kicked the Australian Sensation and drilled him with a Sunset Powerbomb from the apron. This allowed Jacobs to deliver Total Illumination to Craven and pick up the victory.

“THE DON” MICHAEL MORLEONE DEF. ZENITH

The two former members of Generation Zero took to the Claremont Street Fight to settle their deeply personal grievance once and for all. The Claremont Street Fight rules allowed for chairs and a whole lot more to be legal and was demanded after Zenith used the steel chair on “The Don” Michael Morleone at ReAwakening 17, .

The newly enlightened Zenith entered from the crowd slowly, while the former EPW Champion Morleone wasted no time in racing out to begin the beating on the man who betrayed him.

It did not take long for the two men to take the action outside the ring. With no regard for the well-being of their opponent, each man took to using the hard arena floor, kendo sticks and the barricades to inflict damage.

After a hellacious back and forth war, it was seemingly appropriate that it came down to steel chairs given how Zenith cost The Don his EPW Championship. The two men fueled by adrenaline and hatred, took turns exchanging steel chair shots and straight fists between them. Neither wanted to back down.

When The Don drove a precariously perched Zenith with a Choke Bomb off the corner turnbuckle through the waiting steel chairs to the mat, the match was won. With his rival defeated Morleone appeared to have quenched his thirst for revenge.

THE UNTOUCHABLES WITH AMBER DEFEATED  EPW COASTAL CHAMPION SCOTTY RYAN AND JULIAN WARD

All four men in this match were looking to start 2019 off in the right way and bounce back from ReAwakening 17 losses. For The Untouchables (Damian Slater and Marcius Pitt) it was all about regaining momentum in tag team competition after losing the EPW Tag Team Championships in the epic Ladder Match main event.

Scotty Ryan and Julian Ward had both come up short in high profile singles matches. For them a win over the team that lead the pace in 2018 would give them a huge confidence boost toward their 2019 goals.

Ryan and Ward impressed all watching as they matched The Untouchables’ combination of strength and technical ability every step of the way. As former tag team competitors in their own right, Ryan and Ward they covered the ring well but did not have the same fluidity as Slater and Pitt and their inexperience in teaming with one another showed.

Ryan and Ward pushed the Untouchables to the edge of defeat but it was not enough to overcome the experience and teamwork of their opponents. Marcius Pitt and Damian Slater were able to be in the right positions at the right time and scored the pinfall victory over Julian Ward.

Post-match, Eric Mack asked a disappointed but considered Scotty Ryan what this tag team loss meant when Julian Ward took exception. Whilst they are friends, the competitive instincts of both men came to the surface. The Champion challenged Julian Ward to put his money where his mouth is as they set up a match one-on-one at EPW Goldrush for the EPW Coastal Championship.

Interestingly, Amber watched from the stage as this played out and let both men know that she will be keeping a close eye on this match-up at EPW Goldrush – where every title will be on the line.

GORGEOUS GARRY DEFEATED TAYLOR KING TO WIN THE 2018 EPW INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT

After their ReAwakening final was delayed due to injury, Gorgeous Garry and Taylor King finally got their opportunity to square off in the final of Australian wrestling’s longest running tournament – the EPW Invitational Tournament.

The two charismatic stars upped their entrance game with a reinvented “Child Star” Taylor King submitting his audition for the VMA’s with a tribute to Miley Cyrus’s 2013 performance – “Blurred Lines” and all. “The Gorgeous One” called upon the help of Cameron the Magician and some brightly coloured dancers to ensure his own entrance was as magical as possible.

Once the match began, both men refocused and showed how much it meant to have the chance to win the Invitational Tournament. In it’s existence the trophy has previously by some of EPW’s greatest such as Marcius Pitt, Logan Grey, Shane Haste, Davis Storm and Chris Vice to just name a few.

Early in the match, Gorgeous Garry was able to connect with his Drop Dead Gorgeous manoeuvre but King was just able to get his shoulder up becoming the first person to kick out of that move.

Willing to do whatever it takes, Taylor King faked a bicep injury. This was the sign for Jack Edwards and his Thicke impersonator to attempt to steal the tournament victory for King. The referee caught the hapless stooges and rightly ejected all parties from ringside. Down to a one-on-one contest, Garry was able to take the advantage and hit a second Drop Dead Gorgeous to score the pin.

Gorgeous Garry continues his amazing momentum since his return capturing the EPW Invitational Tournament Trophy and secure a future Championship opportunity. You can bet that “The Nonstop Catwalk Show” will be keeping a close eye on EPW Goldrush.

GAVIN MCGAVIN DEFEATED MICK MORETTI TO RETAIN THE EPW CHAMPIONSHIP

Gavin McGavin has been going from strength to strength since capturing the EPW Championship at Vendetta last year, as his confidence as grown through several EPW Championship defenses across the country. Mick Moretti noticed McGavin’s brash #GavinVsAustralia tour and open challenges and took the opportunity to try add the EPW Championship to his collection of belts.

From the get go, Moretti looked to use his unorthodox mind games to throw McGavin off his game. However, it was more than just mind games as the Rapscallion impressed the excited audience with his incredible and innovative wrestling abilities.

Mick Moretti trys every trick in the book in his first EPW Championship match

Not one to miss a trick, the momentum of the match changed when McGavin noticed an injury occur to the lower leg of Mick Moretti. The Real Wrestler honed in his attack to further weaken the limb.

Moretti fought valiantly as both men took a part in a back and forth wrestling spectacle. These two are leading the charge in the Australian wrestling scene at the moment and showed why with incredible fighting spirit and seamless wrestling technique.

Ultimately, it would be the leg injury that bought Moretti undone. Despite bravely fighting off the Ankle Lock and looking to have McGavin done for whilst the referee was out of it, The Real Wrestler resorted to using the cane of Moretti to further shatter the leg which left the challenger no other option but to submit to the Ankle Lock which was reapplied in the center of the ring.

McGavin completes his 7th defence of the EPW Championship

The EPW Champion was basking in the glory of a history making seventh successful EPW Championship defense when the former champ “The Don” Michael Morleone crashed the party. The Don had come to inform McGavin that he would invoke his rematch clause to challenge for the EPW Championship on April 6th at EPW Goldrush! An angry McGavin agreed on the condition that if “The Don” loses at Goldrush, Morleone will never receive another EPW Championship opportunity as long as he is the champion.
