WHY GEN ZERO WILL WIN: Gen Zero have been tag champs for almost 7 months now but they have never faced a challenge like this. If I’m being brutally honest (and I always am), I actually can’t see too many scenarios that end with the champs retaining. Cruz has been a sensational champion and it’s a testament to how good she is that she has been seen as an equal contender every time she gets in the ring. The days of men standing across the ring and laughing at her for being a girl in a “man’s world” are well and truly over, and anyone who had tried it on due to lack of attention towards her success has paid the price. Funnily enough, I think their only hope here is if The Untouchables fall into the same trap. If Pitt and Slater ease up on Cruz, this could give Gen Zero the opening they need to catch them off guard.
WHY THE UNTOUCHABLES WILL WIN: The Untouchables are in the conversation for being two of the best wrestlers in the history of Australian wrestling. They are as good as any two unsigned wrestlers can be in EPW, because if they were even the tiniest bit better in any way, shape or form, they would be off to the WWE in a heartbeat. As long as these two guys rock up with a laser focus and treat Gen Zero with the respect they deserve, there is no way they don’t walk out of Evolution as the new Tag Team Champions.
ODDS: Untouchables $1.25 / Gen Zero $5.00
PREDICTION: The Untouchables are simply going to be too good in every facet of the game for Gen Zero. This is an extremely unique landscape in the EPW tag division which sees the champs at such long odds to retain and to be honest, I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen a pair of challengers be such heavy favourites in any wrestling promotion anywhere in the world. I don’t believe Zenith and Cruz would stoop to the level of getting their stablemates involved to steal a win, but unless they resort to some seriously underhanded tactics, they are simply going to be outmatched.
RESULT: Marcius Pitt to pin Allyson Cruz in 8 minutes, making The Untouchables the NEW EPW Tag Team Champions.
